# School AI Policy Planning Worksheet

Original NeuralEdge planning resource • Draft 2026-10-11 • Owner and qualified reviewer approval pending

Use this blank worksheet to identify the decisions your school needs to make before drafting or updating its AI policy. It is not an adopted policy, a legal opinion, a vendor approval or a compliance certification. Do not enter real student records, IEPs, Section 504 plans, account secrets or other sensitive information here. Use categories and fictional examples instead.

## 2. Describe information and human review

| Vendor storage, retention, deletion and secondary use questions | |
| Evidence requested, source, date and unresolved gaps | |
| Required human review before an output is used | |
| Individualized student or disability decision boundary, if relevant | |

Record uncertainty as unresolved. An empty field is not evidence that a risk or obligation is absent. Have the appropriate reviewer determine actual privacy, accessibility, state law and other requirements; do not use this worksheet to decide eligibility or required accommodations.

## 3. Assign the decision and exception path

## 5. Record review and signoff

Signoff records a defined planning decision. It is not a legal certification or permission beyond the stated scope.

| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |

## Fictional example: preparing a lesson outline

This is an illustrative school scenario, not a NeuralEdge engagement or a recommended decision for a particular product.

| Field | Fictional entry |
| --- | --- |
| Purpose | A teacher wants help structuring a lesson outline from publicly available curriculum material. |
| Tool | Product and relevant feature still to be identified; no product is approved by this example. |
| Users | Staff only; no student accounts proposed. |
| Information | Public curriculum material only, subject to the school's rules. No identifiable student information or individualized plans. |
| Evidence gap | The technology reviewer still needs the product terms, access and retention information. |
| Human review | Teacher checks accuracy, appropriateness and alignment before using any output. |
| Decision | Unresolved pending the school's review. The worksheet itself does not authorize use. |
| Exception owner | The school's designated technology or privacy review contact, to be named locally. |
| Reassessment trigger | Adding student accounts, identifiable information or a different feature requires renewed review. |
| Next review date | School inserts an actual date and owner. |

## From worksheet to policy

Use the completed worksheet to identify missing evidence, prepare questions for reviewers and decide which policy sections need local wording. Keep the school's actual approval process and applicable obligations separate from this general planning aid.
